Accessibility statement

What we are working towards

We have built this website with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2, level AA, as our target. We have not yet had the site independently audited against that standard, so we describe it as what we are working towards rather than something we claim to have achieved. Where we know we fall short, we say so below.

How we have built this website

The measures we have taken include:

• Structuring pages with proper headings so screen reader users can navigate by section rather than reading everything in order.
• Choosing text and background colours that meet the contrast levels in the guidelines.
• Making sure the site can be operated with a keyboard alone, without a mouse, and that the focus outline stays visible.
• Labelling every field in our enquiry forms, and describing errors in words rather than by colour alone.
• Writing alternative text for images that carry meaning, and leaving decorative images unlabelled so they are skipped.
• Allowing text to be resized up to 200 per cent without content being lost or overlapping.
• Writing in plain English, and explaining legal terms the first time we use them.

Known limitations

Parts of this website are provided by other companies and rendered by their own code. We do not control how they are built, and some may not fully meet the standard. These are:

• The cookie consent banner and preference centre.
• The customer review displays on our homepage and reviews page.
• The recruitment listings on our careers page.

We have raised accessibility with these suppliers and we take it into account when deciding whether to keep using them. If one of these prevents you from doing something on this website, contact us and we will help you another way.

Some documents we link to, including our funding agreements and information leaflets, are PDFs produced for print. They may not work well with a screen reader. We will provide any of them in a different format on request.

Getting information in another format

If you need anything on this website in a different format, tell us what you need and we will do our best to provide it. That includes large print, plain text, audio, or simply having someone read it to you over the phone. There is no charge for this and you do not need to explain why you need it.

If you would find it easier to speak to someone than to use a form, call us. We would rather take your enquiry by phone than have you struggle with the website.

Telling us about a problem

If you find something on this website you cannot use, we want to know. Tell us the page you were on and what happened, and we will look into it.

We aim to reply within five working days. If you are not satisfied with how we respond, you can raise it through our complaints procedure.

Your rights

Under the Equality Act 2010 we have a duty to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people are not put at a substantial disadvantage when using our services. That duty applies to this website as much as it does to our office. If you believe we have not met it, please tell us, and if we cannot resolve it between us you can seek advice from the Equality Advisory and Support Service.

What we are doing next

We review this website for accessibility problems as we add pages, and we fix what we find in order of how much it affects people. Issues that stop someone using the site at all come before cosmetic ones. We will update this page as things change.
