Housing litigation, done properly
We have acted for tenants since 1984. Not for landlords, not for insurers, not for both sides depending on the week. If you want litigation experience where the work matters and the client is usually the person with the least power in the dispute, this is a good place to build a career.
What the work is actually like
We run high volumes of housing disrepair and housing conditions claims against councils, housing associations and registered social landlords. That means real litigation from the start: pre-action protocol correspondence, expert surveyor evidence, part 8 claims, environmental protection prosecutions and advocacy. Fee earners here handle their own caseloads with supervision, rather than working a narrow slice of someone else’s file.
Our clients are usually living in the conditions we are litigating about while we do it. That shapes how we work. Cases move, deadlines are real, and the difference between a file progressed and a file sat on is a family in a mouldy bedroom for another three months.
What we look for
Volume litigation experience and a working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules matter more to us than a particular route into the profession. We employ solicitors, chartered legal executives, paralegals and support staff, and we take people from other litigation backgrounds who are willing to learn housing law properly. Advocacy experience is welcome but not essential.
What is not optional is care about the outcome. We act for people who have usually already been ignored by someone else.
